🏖️Planning a Goa trip with friends

Goa is the easiest group trip in India to book and the easiest to fumble: the crew that never decides north or south ends up spending half the trip on a scooter between the two. One honest vote before booking fixes most of it.

when to go

November to February is the sweet spot — dry, warm, everything open. March to May turns hot and sticky. June to September is the monsoon: lush, cheap and gloriously empty, but many beach shacks shut and the sea is often too rough to swim, so treat it as a rain-and-fenny trip, not a beach one.

sort before you go

The one decision that shapes everything is north versus south: the north holds the nightlife, markets and crowds; the south the quiet beaches and long lunches. Distances are bigger than they look, so stay near your scene. Most crews run on rented scooters — carry licences — and a villa split beats two hotel rooms for any group of four or more. The checklists below cover the rest:

plan it as a crew

Goa on Niklo is mostly a money-and-decisions trip: pin Anjuna against Palolem on the globe and let the vote settle north versus south, drop the villa, scooters, fuel and shack bills into the ledger as they happen, and let the settle-up work out who owes whom one transfer each at the airport.

quick answers

North Goa or South Goa for a friends' trip?

North for nightlife, beach shacks and markets; south for quieter beaches and slower days. Mixed crews usually base in the north and day-trip south — just don't split accommodation across both for a short trip.

How many days is a Goa trip?

Four to five days covers a coast properly without the last day feeling like a checkout queue. A weekend works if you commit to one beach and stop commuting.

Is monsoon Goa worth it?

Yes, if you go for the green hills, the food and the empty roads rather than the beach: swimming is often unsafe and many shacks close. It's the cheapest Goa of the year, and it photographs like Kerala.

Put Goa in front of the crew.

Pin it on the globe, let everyone vote, and if it wins, the route, checklists and ledger are already waiting.
